Why does inflation change the result?
Nominal return shows how much your money grows on paper. Inflation reduces purchasing power over time. Real return shows how much wealth actually grows after discounting currency erosion.
If an investment earns 11% per year and inflation is 4% per year, the real gain is not 11%. The approximate real gain is 6.73% per year.
